Gee I haven't entered a blog for a long, long time.
Roy & I are both retired now and enjoying life. We have a new
doggie called Twinkie (In the photo above). Our dear little maltese,
Bella died in September 2008. She was 10 years old.

I am kept busy with my square dancing on a Tuesday morning,
my craft group on a Thursday morning, playing Bolivia (cards
similar to Canasta) with a few friends on a Friday afternoon,
and whatever comes up in the meantime.
I belong to the Bulli Seniors Computer Club & they get together
every month for a meeting. They also run little classes for
different things.
I am into the tunisian crochet & have finished a few lovely rugs
and shawls.

Roy has found himself a few hobbies now. He goes to the gym,
is involved with Lifeline, sorting books for their big Book Sales at
Kembla Grange twice a year. Also he goes to the Mens Shed &
makes lots of nice things. i.e. boxes, coffee table, key holder,
kiddie gates (to stop little doggie getting into the bedrooms)

Life is good.

Friday 13th February 2009

I went out to a friend's place this afternoon for our weekly game of cards. Very enjoyable!

Roy & I went for our little walk early this morning. We are trying to work off the fat that we have accumulated since we both retired. It seems to be working, Roy has lost 7kgs and I have lost 4kgs. This picture is of how I would like to look!!!!!

I was invited out to the Bulli Angican Church ladies craft group this morning to teach them how to do Tunisian Crocheting. Had a lovely morning. The ladies were keen to learn and I sold about 12 hooks. Am going again next week.

Well, what a frustrating 3 weeks I have had! It all started after I came back from a week in Adelaide - went to dial up internet and it kept cutting me off. I took my hard drive to my computer man who checked it out and said the modem was okay...... Changed the telephone extension cord. So then I rang Optus and spoke to lots of different people - some hung up on me - some left me dangling on the phone - some transferred me from one dept to another. In the end, I was getting nowhere, so I rang TIO (Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman). They gave me a reference number and was told to ring Optus back. So I did. Then I was given a case manager to look after my problem. She got me to talk to one of their top technicians, who on a couple of occasions, changed settings on my modem. Still no good.

In the meantime, I changed my phone service from Optus to Telstra, which took nearly 3 weeks to connect (happened today actually).

I have rung TIO about 3 times overall.

Then last night at about 7.30pm my case manager from Optus rang me - she put me on to a girl in the phone dept. She did a couple of tests on the line and then (after consulting with her bosses) came back and said she was going to send out a technician, but because I was changing over to Telstra phone, she couldn't do that now............. Talk about passing the buck!!!

I am so peeved off with Optus - so today I rang Telstra Bigpond and am now (AT LAST) going broadband with them as soon as they send me the stuff....

All I can say is steer clear of Optus if you want anything fixed........ bad news!!!!

But get this......................... The phone went over to Telstra today and tonight I signed on to the internet and it is working as normal ....... how does that work?????

Australia Day Roy and I shared a lovely couple of hours with our friends, Sandra and Steve and Carol, on a cruise of Sydney Harbour. Had a very nice buffet lunch on the boat.

Believe it or not!!!!!!! I am back on the internet, am not sure how long for but it seems to be working okay at the moment. What a 3 weeks I have had trying to get this internet sorted out. Finally, Ben (an Optus top Technician) seems to have sorted the problem. We will wait and see....

FEBRUARY 3rd 2009

I am just about pulling my hair out - have been unable to get a decent line onto the internet through OPTUS since the 17th January 2009. Keep getting cut off. (which will probably happen in a minute)..........
WHEN, WHEN, Optus finally get around to fixing the problem, guess who will be leaving OPTUSNET.,....Me!!! The sooner the better.....

Will update my news in the near distant future..................................hopefully!!!!!

Saturday 10th January 2009

We had ads in our local paper for this morning to sell our old TV, cabinet and Washing Machine.
How lucky!!! We sold the TV and Washing Machine........ Still have the corner unit to sell yet.
Then we had to set up our other little TV (that was in our office) in the lounge room so Roy will have something to watch while I am away next week. We aren't getting our new TV delivered until Monday week.

I am going to Adelaide with a girlfriend, Sheila, tomorrow until the following Saturday to watch the Australasian Veterans Tennis Tournament. We are staying at another old tennis mate, Janet's place.

Roy had a telephone call this morning from his sister, Diane in England.
They are moving to
Portugal to live.

Had to sort out all the things that were in the corner unit and packed them away in the garage.

Decided to go out for tea, so we just went down to Corrimal Leagues Club. Renewed our membership, which expired last September. How slack!!!!!
After tea, I called up to see my friend Christine's mum, who is up at Diggers Retirement Home. She is 86 and so alert. I painted her nails for her!!!

Friday 9th January 2009
Had our friends Sandra and Steve over for lunch today. They are both on holidays.
Also friend Christine called in for a few seconds before she and Jim went to Parkes for the weekend.
Just found out (from one of our friends) that our names are not listed in the White Pages of the phone book. Can you believe that???? White Pages told me that I had to ring Optus as they were the ones that took it off. Last March, we changed our phone plan and apparently Optus took it out and then put it back in again (BUT............ they didn't put it back in time for the telephone book being distributed).
So........... I rang Optus, who are in the Phillipines by the way. Was telling the first girl my problem and would you believe, she hung up on me............. So.............. rang again, this time I got a man.
Started to tell him my problem, he asked me my telephone number and then put me on hold........ and on hold............. and on hold..................... . So I rang again, finally got another girl who said she would fix it up for me..... I even asked her if I could speak to someone in Australia but that wasn't possible....... it is all in the Phillipines. What is happening to Australia????

Rang the local paper and put an ad in for tomorrow - we want to sell our old TV and cabinet and the old washing machine........ hope we get someone to buy them!!!!

Thursday 8th January 2009

Another busy day - - - Before Xmas I got talking to this lady at Spotlight in the wool section about my doing Tunisian Crocheting and she said that she would like to have a go at it. So I said to her I would show her after Xmas. Well!!! She rang me up last Monday and I said for her to come over today. We had a little craft session........ And she bought 8 hooks off me. (Roy makes them - a little hobby for him!!)
Roy had gone out to fix a broken window for a friend. And then he stayed and had a cuppa and chat...
When this lady had gone I went out and had a cuppa with them.
After lunch Roy and I went into Wollongong to Bing Lee to price washing machine and TV.
They gave us a great deal on a Fisher and Paykel Washer and a Sony LCD TV so we ordered them from there.
Continuing on our little shopping spree, we went out to Direct Furniture at Warrawong and ordered the Lowline TV Cabinet that we saw on Tuesday.
Came home exhausted again. This shopping lark takes it out of us oldies.........
